Umbilical Stem Cells - Derived Biologic Options
What is Umbilical Stem Cells - Derived Biologic Options
Umbilical tissue–derived products are one of several regenerative tools used in orthopedic care. At Nevada Stem Cell RMC, these products are discussed selectively and used only when they make sense for a patient’s diagnosis, goals, and overall treatment plan.
This option is often appealing because it does not require a tissue harvest procedure and typically involves lower upfront cost compared to autologous (your own tissue)–based treatments. Like all regenerative options, it has specific strengths and limitations that should be understood before proceeding.
Where Umbilical Tissue Comes From
Umbilical Tissue vs. Adipose-Derived Options
- Do not require a harvest or liposuction procedure
- Typically involve lower upfront cost
- Are administered in a single visit
- Are donor-derived rather than patient-derived
- May be appropriate when simplicity, recovery time, or cost are key considerations
- Use your own tissue
- Involve a harvest and same-day processing
- Allow for options such as cell banking and future use
- Are generally more involved and higher cost
- May be preferred when long-term planning or autologous sourcing is important

When Umbilical Tissue May Be Considered
Umbilical tissue products may be discussed when:
- A patient is not a candidate for tissue harvest
- A less invasive option is preferred
- Cost is a significant factor
- The condition being treated aligns with the biologic role of the product
They are not positioned as a cure-all and are not appropriate for every patient or every condition.
Procedures performed by an MD/DO. No delegated injectors.
Fluoroscopy with IV contrast to confirm accurate positioning before injection.
We discuss options, pros/cons, and alternatives, not everyone is a candidate.
